Last night I went to an organizing meeting to plan a "Anything for a Friend" fundraising event for my friend Jordan and her husband Thomas. I am so excited to be a part of this organization and to help plan this event. Please go to
www.anythingforafriend.com to see what I'm talking about. There was a lady there, Becky Anderson, she was the first recipient of "Anything for a Friend" and she told us her story. When I first heard about this a few weeks ago, I thought yeah, I will help because it's Jill and it's Jordan and it's a sad story, but after hearing her talk about this organization and hearing that just since her event in April, they've raised over $85,000 for just a couple people, I am even more excited to be a part of something so amazing.
I will post more details about Thomas' event as I go to more meetings and get them, but for now, please mark your calendars for Saturday, December 11 and plan to come support this awesome cause. There is an event tomorrow, Saturday, September 25 at Jensen Park in Syracuse for little Kambri Jeffers who is 10 years old battling cancer. You can find more info about her event on the website also.
We are in need of more committee members for Thomas' event, so if anyone wants to help that way, let me know. We also need items for a live and silent auction and we are also having a "retail" section at the event if any of you crafty gals would be willing to make things and donate them to be sold at the event, that would be totally awesome too! Thanks!
Also, an update on Thomas.....he is currently in the hospital having another 5 day round of chemo and is expected to come home today! They found out earlier in the week that the chemo they are using has shrunk the tumors in his chest a little, so for now, they will stick with that. He will be home for 2 weeks and then do it over again. If you want to hear more of Thomas and Jordan's story, go to
www.thomasroadtorecovery.blogspot.com . They are amazing people. They are always so positive and upbeat and I am amazed by it considering what they are dealing with.
