A Rough Week...

So, we've had a really rough week at our house. Last weekend, Cody decided he wanted to clean our garage so he could start exercising out there again on his machine. We had the boys that weekend, so they were out there helping. The girls and I were watching Little Mermaid in the family room. I heard a crash and alot of commotion, but thought nothing of it ( I just figured they dropped something), until Haden came running through the door and said Cody had fallen off the ladder and I needed to come. I ran to the door and saw Cody trying to stand up. His face was white as a ghost and he looked at me and said, "My arm is broke!". Me being the stupid person I am, said "Are you sure??". With a couple of choice words, he informed that yes, he was sure and to find someone to take the kids so we could go to the hospital. I called his dad to come take him while I found someone to take all 4 kids. I ended up taking them down to Farmington to my sister, Michelle's house, who I am so grateful to because she ended up having them until 8:00 that night and even brought them home for me. When I got to the hospital, Cody was already flying high on morphine and had been xrayed and I was informed that he actually broke BOTH ARMS!!!!! They told me that the Orthopedic Dr on call was on his way to look at the xrays and would decide what to do.
Well, on his right arm, it is his elbow that is broke. It is broke right in the joint so they decided not to cast it because the sooner Cody starts moving it and using it the better or it will become arthritic. His left arm, however, wasn't as minor. After over 2 hours of surgery to put 5 pins in, he ended up staying overnight in the hospital because they couldn't get his pain under control and his blood pressure kept going way high. He is off work for a few weeks, but may be able to go back on light duty sooner depending on his right elbow. The pins will be in for 4-6 weeks. He's praying they come out before the end of December because he has a cow elk hunting tag he wants to be able to use.
I ended up taking the week off of work to play nurse and take care of the girls. I have always known that Cody does alot around here as far as housework, and helping with the girls, but after having to do EVERYTHING myself this week, I now know just HOW MUCH he really does. I think he's been a little humiliated at some of the things I've had to do for him and he is starting to go a little crazy at being cooped up at home. I want to thank everyone who has taken, or offered to take and help out with our girls this week, and for everyone who brought meals in. I felt bad taking meals because I'm the one who cooks and I'm not injured, but I really have been stressed out and had alot to deal with this week, so THANKYOU!
Despite Cody's mishap, I was still able to go to the midnight showing of 'New Moon' on Thursday night thanks to his sister who came over to babysit him and the kids. THANKS COURTNEY! I really did need some time away to regroup, and it was nice to spend some time with my sisters, some friends and my nieces!

He's really not able to "hold" or "cuddle" the girls, but Maycie is now allowed to SIT AND HOLD STILL on daddy's lap as long as she is careful and doesn't touch his arms. Sydnie looks at him and gets excited, wanting him to take her and then gets sad when he doesn't :(

But on a lighter note...Our Sydnie is now 4 months old. At her well check, she weighed 16 lbs, 3 oz. and was 24 inches long. Yes, she is a fat little girl! She is such a little sweetie, very laid back and really doesn't fuss unless she is hungry or tired. We just love her to pieces!

Halloween!!

We had a very fun Halloween at our house. It's always fun when Halloween falls on the weekend because then the celebrating lasts for more than one day with parties at school and stuff. I took last Thursday off and helped with Gage's class party, it was a little weird to only have 1 class to help in now that Haden is in Jr. High. Then on Friday, I took the girls and Gage up to my work in their costumes for my department Halloween potluck. Then on Saturday, I made soup and rolls and had Cody's family over, then we did the trunk-or-treat in our neighborhood and then went up to Grandma and Grandpa Bennett's for my mom's Best ever Beef Stew. It was really a great few days around here!
My "trunk-or-treaters"...
Maycie was a pumpkin witch and here she is with her "punkins"...
Sydnie ended up wearing 2 different costumes. Here she is as my 'lil lion at my work potluck with my niece, Amber...
And here she is as my "Syd-er Bear". We have said ever since she was born that we wanted her to be a bear for Halloween because she does this little growl that sounds like a baby bear cub. ..
Here is the BYU Coug's. Gage and my nephew, Daxton. Their uniforms were so cute, they even had their last names on the back...
And here's the group with Grandma and Grandpa Bennett...Haden wanted to be something scary, so he got that clown mask and wore a black cape. My nephew Logan was a BYU fan, Boston was a garden gnome, and Tate was Dash from the Incredibles.
And another group shot with my brother, Steve's, kids. Colter was Zorro, Camrie was Little Bo Peep, and Cashe was a spider...

Sydnie's Blessing Day and Gage's 9th Birthday!!!

On September 20, we had Sydnie's baby blessing at our house, and also celebrated Gage's birthday, which was 2 days later, since our families were all together. It was a great day! I want to thank my dad for giving her such a beautiful blessing and then we had dinner which included pulled pork from Texas Roadhouse (Thanks, Kae), and for dessert cupcakes and icecream for Gage's birthday!
Beautiful Baby Girl!
Grandpa & Grandma Bennett with Sydnie

All my babies, (some not so baby-ish anymore)!

Daddy, mommy and Sydnie

Awww, sweet sisters!

GAGE TURNED 9!!!

The cake...it's horrible, I know. It's supposed to be a football and helmet sitting on grass. The display one I saw first a few days before was way cuter. I've never seen a football in that shape before, have you??? Oh well, the cupcakes were yummy regardless and Gage was happy!

Singin' "Happy Birthday"! Takes a big breath to blow out 9 candles!!

He hasn't had a bike to ride since last year because his other one was way too small, so that's what Cody and I got him. He was so excited and rides it every chance he gets! HAPPY 9TH BIRTHDAY BUDDY!

First Day of School!

Our first couple of weeks have been awesome and my boys have adjusted really well. Actually, we've all had to do a little adjusting...Haden is now in 7th grade!! JR HIGH...UGH! He's had to become good at opening his lockers (gym and regular), has to deal with 7 different teachers and the homework that goes with them everyday, where all those classes are in the school and which one he's supposed to be in at what time, and has to get up earlier to be at school by the time the bell rings at 8 a.m. I have to admit, I was VERY nervous for him. I remember my first day of 7th grade and things are very different now. I was a basket case all day, wondering if he was doing ok and Cody didn't help anything the night before with teasing Haden about pushing pennies and getting his head dunked in the toilet. Haden took it all in stride and joked back with Cody and me...I was in tears. My big adjustments have been very minor compared to Haden's, but it is a very big deal that I have a son in Jr. High now. I just can't believe we're at that point. I, too, have to get up a little earlier, and we also found out that we are 1/10 of a mile from being able to have him bussed, so I am driving to the jr. high twice a day, 3 times a week to drop him off and pick him up. I am so proud of him and how well he's doing. So far, I haven't had to yell at him to get out of bed in the mornings, he gets right up when I tell him the first time. Keep it up Haden, make it a great year! I love you!
Gage is a big 3rd grader now at Buffalo Point Elementary. He loves school, and loves being the first one at the bus stop in the mornings, sometimes walking out the door at 8:00, which wouldn't be a big deal except the bus doesn't come until 8:30 and the stop is right in front of our house, LOL. He was nervous about learning cursive, but now enjoys it, I think. When I took him to Back to School night, I asked him if he was nervous about not having Haden at the same school, and he said, "A little". My boys are very close and very protective of each other. I'm sure it's been different for him to not have Haden waiting for him after school to get on the bus and not seeing him "around the school". Gage is my designated babysitter in the mornings while I'm running Haden to school. My girls are usually both still asleep and I would rather not wake them up and pack them up in the car, so Gage is so patient and listens for them for the 10 minutes while I'm gone. Gage, you're doing awesome! I love you!

My Maycie Turned 2!!!

My sweet Maycie Rae turned 2 years old on August 12th. Daddy took the day off so he could spend the day with her. We had a BBQ/Party that night and she was so excited. Anyone who has talked to me lately knows that I'm feeling a little overwhelmed at having a 2 year old and a newborn, and I am always talking about how Maycie wears me out and is so full of energy, but she is, plain and simple, my lovebug! She makes me laugh daily and I wouldn't trade her for the world! I can't believe she's already 2! Seems like we just had her. Mommy loves you so much Maycie Rae!
Here she is with her Cupcake cakes...she was so excited and picked them out herself at the store! As you will see in later pics, red and black frosting wasn't the wisest choice, but still oh so cute!
Takin' a swing at the ladybug pinata...
PRESENTS!!!!!...
"Happy Birthday Dear Maycie...." Blowing out candles...
OK...so here's the aftermath of her eating a cupcake with black frosting...she looked like she was going gothic!
And here's Sydnie with evidence of a green kiss from Tate...
Aunt Chelle holding Sydnie and Ryker, and the cutest cheezer from Maycie with her black frosting face...
She had such a FABULOUS birthday!

Cody's Latest Project!

The biggest thing we had to do to get ready for our new baby was to get Maycie moved out of the nursery and into the bigger bedroom. It was originally Haden's room when we moved into the house because it was navy blue and had a sports border. We are still trying to figure out what the previous owners were thinking when they chose that color scheme. They painted all 4 walls, the ceiling, the attic entry and the inside of the closet NAVY BLUE! So, here's the pics to show what we were up against...

And after 4 coats of primer plus paint, this is what it looks like now...we did the closet and window walls white, and the other 2 walls a marsh green that matches the green in her new bedroom set. HUGE CHANGE RIGHT???

I put some vinyl flower stickers above the closet...
Maycie is sleeping in her new room in a regular bed with a new comforter set but I don't have the room all the way done, so I will post more pics when it's finished. She loves her new room and has to take anyone who comes to the house up there to show them her "pretty room". My baby girl is growing up just in time for her new sister to take over the "baby" stuff. Hugs and kisses to daddy for making her room into something she is so proud of!!!
