Some of you know that my Maycie went in today to get tubes put in her ears. I just wanted to post an update...
But first, I have to tell about our night last night. I had planned on keeping her up late so that she could have a bottle later and hopefully not wake up during the night and want one. She wasn't supposed to have anything to eat or drink after midnight. Well, since Thursday, she has had a HORRIBLE case of diarrhea. We don't know if it's from the antibiotic that she's on, or if she has some kind of stomach flu or rotavirus. I'm betting on the antibiotic since she hasn't thrown up and the diarrhea is her only symptom. Well, her little bum is so red and sore and she just screams and her little legs just tremble when you change her. Well, she didn't stay up very late and at 1 a.m., woke up with a poopy diaper. I changed her and hoped that she would go back to sleep without wanting her bottle. Hahaha yeah right! The doctor had told me that she could have clear liquids such as apple juice up until 3 a.m., but no milk or food. So, we ended up giving her apple juice at 3, but she didn't fall asleep until 5 and then the alarm went off at 5:30. We had her up to the surgical center at 6:45, we checked in, met with the anesthesiologist, the dr came in for a second and then they took her into surgery at 7:30. It was really hard for me to hand my baby girl over to some nurse I've never met and who she doesn't know and let her take her to a room where someone is going to hold her down, put a mask over face to make her go to sleep and then someone is going to cut into her eardrum. I know, a very minor surgery, and not a big deal at all, but it very emotional for me. But, you can all be so proud of me, I didn't even cry when they took her! I wanted to, and I was close, but I didn't. By 7:45, the dr had come out to the waiting room to talk to us, and by 7:50 we were headed back to the recovery room to see her. They had us bring a bottle for her, so I sat in a rocker in the recovery room and gave that to her. She had a really hard time coming out of the anesthesia and was very restless and screaming. The Dr had told me that she would not feel any pain after the surgery, but I'm going to disagree with him on that one. She screamed the whole way home, and pulled at both ears. It wasn't until we were home and I had given her motrin that she calmed down and went to sleep. So, the surgery went well, and now we just have to hope and pray that the tubes help with the ear infections.
And now, people have been asking for an update on my pregnancy and how I'm doing. I'm about 161/2 weeks now and, for the most part, doing pretty good. I'm still having the nightmares about the baby, so I don't sleep much which leaves me completely exhausted all the time, but I did talk to my dr last week and he made me feel better. Yes, I am showing ALOT, and have broken out all the maternity clothes. We will be finding out what we're having on March 11th, and I can't wait!
